Mohawk Residence
Rexburg, Idaho
The before and after on this remodel was remarkable. Our first goal was to create more space. After expanding the skinny, claustrophobic kitchen into the adjoining laundry room and powder bath, we were all shocked at how much square footage there was available. Also, tearing down the wall between the living room and kitchen allowed us to create an amazing great room to entertain, a layout not found in older homes. As for the aesthetic, it was clear from the beginning that "honesty of materials," a strong characteristic of the Craftsman era, was going to be our motto throughout the project. The once dated and cramped kitchen is now a showcase of rich woods and warm stones, a perfect environment to display their pottery collections and host dinner parties.
