Meet Sonia Barney

I'm Sonia Barney, Owner and Principal Designer

​I’m a designer, plain and simple.  I have a strong math-minded, nerdy side that may not be typical in Interior Designers.  I love to solve problems - I prefer designing kitchen cabinets in CAD to fluffing pillows.  My design solutions are organized and balanced.  Details and quality bring me joy.  

I’m an expert in my field, that means I’m always learning, investing and honing my skills.  You can trust me to advise you, I’ll be honest, punctual and have an empathetic listening ear.  I have your best interests at heart. 

My down-to-earth personality will make you comfortable.  I create client relationships with integrity, telling the truth is more important than my ego.  I love working with clients who are ready to invest in the right solution and quality design.  
I have a Bachelor’s Degree from Brigham Young University-Idaho and graduated from a fully accredited Interior Design Program (previously referred to as FIDER) in 2006.  I worked as a high-end kitchen and bath Designer in Scottsdale, Arizona before returning to Idaho to teach Interior Design at my alma mater and raise my two special needs boys.

Sonia Barney Design became official in 2015 when I realized that if I wanted my career to flexible with my family needs I would have to build it myself. And it has surpassed by wildest dreams.  I’m so proud and grateful everyday I get to share my passion for elevating designs and creating a positive impact in peoples lives. I continue to run a family-oriented business, inside and outside, not just in design but in the culture with my employees and clients.

Meet the SBD Team

Sheila Edmond
Office Administrator

Sheila joined our team in early 2021. Her love of organization and processes plus her shared love of nerding over Excel spreadsheets made her a perfect addition to the SBD team as our office administrator and product procurement specialist. One thing we love about Sheila is that she is always eager to help wherever an extra set of hands are needed and care for the people around her.  When she’s not at work, she enjoys taking care of her family, serving in her community, reading, and baking. 

Lindsay Webster
​Assistant Designer

Lindsay and her family moved to Idaho in the summer of 2023 and joined the SBD team January 2024.  Growing up as a military dependent allowed her to see the world, meet lots of different people and make any new house feel like home. The last several years Lindsay worked at Pottery Barn as a designer and manager, until she graduated in 2022 earning her Architecture and Interior Design A.A.S Degree in Interior Design. She has 19 years of experience in customer service and has a natural talent for organization and details. When she’s not assisting designers at SBD she’s most likely enjoying hot yoga, in the garden with her daughter, or walking the Snake River with her family and pooches, Barley and Cowboy.
